Apple and Chocolate Crunch Pudding

1/3 cup butter
1 x 10 1/2 oz packet chocolate covered cookies, crushed
3 medium cooking apples, peeled and sliced
Grated rind and juice of 1 orange
2 tablespoons light corn syrup
Melt the butter in a saucepan, add the cookies and stir until coated with the butter.
Remove from the heat.
Grease an ovenproof dish well with butter and put in half the apple slices, sprinkle over half the rind and pour over half the juice and half the syrup.
Repeat the layers.
Cover the dish lightly and bake in a moderately hot oven around
375 degrees, for 30 minutes or until the apples are tender.
Serve hot or cold with cream. You may also choose to dip the apples in lemon juice before cooking.
